Gannon Sees Largest Enrollment in 17 Years
Total enrollment for Fall 2009 is 4,238 students, which is the largest total enrollment since 1992! This year’s first-year class includes 649 students, marking the fifth consecutive year of more than 600 first-year students and the highest number of entering freshmen since Fall 1993. The University also enrolled 102 transfer students, and full-time undergraduate enrollment of 2,413 is the highest since 1996. Read more >

Alumni Lunchtime Lecture Series
The fourth year of the Alumni Lunchtime Lecture Series kicked off on Sept. 17 with Dr. David B. Barker's presentation on "Stress and Coping." Arlene Montevecchio, director of Gannon’s Center for Social Concerns, will present "Vacation with a Vision: Gannon's Service Trip Program" as the next Lunchtime Lecture on Oct. 22. The noon talk will take place in the Palumbo Academic Center, Room 1200. A free boxed lunch is available for the first 30 registrants! Registration and more information >

Distinguished Alumni to be Honored
All alumni are invited to help Gannon honor five individuals at the University’s annual Distinguished Alumni Dinner, held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 in the Yehl Room, Waldron Campus Center (124 West 7th St.). The Dinner is one of the signature events of Gannon’s Alumni Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. Honorees include: Dante C. Parrini ’86; Robert W. McGee, Ph.D., Esq. ’69; Eric Klann, Ph.D. ’84; Thomas E. Dever, Ph.D. ’84; Kary J. Schroyer, D.O. ’93; and Evelyn Marie (Prenatt) Madonia ’59VMC.

Student-Produced Experience Launches
Know a prospective Gannon student? Fill them in on Edge, a new student-produced online magazine for prospective students and their families to learn more about all that Gannon University has to offer. Gannon Has a Day for You!
All prospective students and their families are welcome to attend Gannon University’s annual Fall Open House on Nov. 8. Registration begins at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Waldron Campus Center, 124 West 7th St. Students and their families will be able to tour campus, meet with faculty, staff and athletic coaches and attend presentations on academic programs, admissions and financial aid and compete in scholarship contests. Join the Lady Knights at Disney
Gannon’s women’s basketball team will kick off the 2009-10 season with a trip to Orlando, Fla., to participate in Disney’s Division II Tip-Off East Coast Classic. Gannon University alumni and fans are encouraged to join the team for this special event, held Nov. 6-8 at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex. Find out more >
Zurn Science Center Blessing Nov. 12
After $18.5 million in renovations, Gannon’s Zurn Science Center is now a state-of-the-art science facility providing students and faculty with the latest technology. Alumna Returns as Executive on Campus
The next installment of Gannon’s Executive on Campus Program, which brings high-level executives to campus as guest lecturers, will be Nov. 9 with a visit from Anne M. Cooney ’91, vice president of the Power Conversion Division for Siemens Energy & Automation. Football Alumni Reunite
Members of the 1949 and 1989 Gannon football teams, alumni, Golden Knight Athletics Boosters and football parents gathered on Sept. 12 for a Football Alumni Reunion and Tailgate in preparation for the game that day versus Cheyney University. The ’49 and ’89 teams celebrated their 60th and 20th anniversaries, respectively, and both teams were recognized at a halftime ceremony.

Business Ambassadors Hosts Fall Breakfast
The Fall 2009 breakfast meeting was held on Sept. 16 in the Boardroom of Old Main. The presentation, “Successful Exporting: Entering and Staying in the Global Market,” featured Dorte Heffernan, international trade manager for the Northwest PA Regional Planning and Development Commission, and alumna Gretchen Seth ’79, ’82M, vice president of international sales at Logistics Plus. Gannon University is a newsmaker, in Erie and beyond. Longtime Gannon employee Joe Luckey '55 shared his Gannon and Erie memories with NPR's StoryCorps; the Pennsylvania DUI Association posted a video of Gannon students hosting a "Pullayouee" event to help combat underage drinking and driving; and the Erie Times-News profiled Gannon's Health Center director, Ali Schneider.

Every Alum Has a Story
Rob Glentzer ’00 is a 1996 graduate of Greenville High School, a 2000 graduate of Gannon University with a degree in English and a 2003 graduate of the Penn State Dickinson School of Law. Rob is currently employed with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC as an attorney. He and his wife Karolina reside in Cranberry Township, Pa. with their two children, Alina and Aidan. Read more >
