GU/Mercyhurst Alumni Face Off
Gannon University alumni will compete against alumni from local rival Mercyhurst College in the 2nd Annual Mercyhurst vs. Gannon Men’s Alumni Basketball Game. The event will be held Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for youth; students with a valid college ID and children five years old and under are admitted for free. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Join Us for an Evening of Jazz
For spring, the Alumni Lunchtime Lecture Series will feature an evening jazz lecture and performance. All alumni, faculty, students and friends are welcome to attend on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel (Upper Lounge) at 520 Peach St. Dr. Allen Zurcher and Friends will perform. VP for Enrollment Services Chosen
Gannon University President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., has appointed William R. Edmondson as Gannon University’s new vice president for enrollment. The newly defined position reports directly to the president and oversees a staff of 48 in the areas of undergraduate and graduate admissions (domestic and international), financial aid and the registrar’s office.

Gannon Gets Greener
Every year the average American generates 1,460 pounds of trash—only 180 pounds less than the combined weight of the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line. In an attempt to help lower the amount of garbage that people create, Gannon University is participating in the next Recyclemania challenge.

Every Alum Has a Story
Dr. Stacey J. Hitt ’87, ’88M graduated from Gannon University in 1987 with a degree in management information systems and received his MBA from Gannon in 1988. In 2001, he received a doctorate in internet communications/knowledge management from The Union Institute and University (Cincinnati, Ohio). While at Gannon, Stacey lettered four years as a member of the men’s basketball team. Recently, the 1986-87 team was selected for induction into the Gannon University Athletics Hall of Fame, with an induction ceremony held on Jan. 9, 2010.

Alumnus Gives Commencement Keynote
More than 250 students received diplomas and joined the ranks of the University’s alumni on Dec. 13 during Gannon’s winter commencement. Thomas Loftus ’74M, senior vice president of Lord Corp. (retired), gave the keynote address.
