Gannon Again Named a Top College
Gannon University advanced five places in the new U.S.News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges 2011” rankings and, for the fifth time, is included in the coveted list of Great Schools, Great Prices. Gannon is ranked 46th overall out of 172 schools in its region. In addition, Washington Monthly has also recognized Gannon, ranking the University 16th out of more than 500 "Master's Universities."

Return to Campus this October!
It’s almost here—Alumni Homecoming & Reunion Weekend is just around the corner, promising three days of activities, events and fun Oct. 22-24. For instance, the Sheik Social Fraternity (instated Dec. 2, 1969) is planning a reunion for alumni members. Homecoming schedule >

Gannon Introduces New Mascot Uniform 
Just in time for a new school year and the opening of the Gannon Knights football season on Sept. 2, the University has unveiled a new-and-improved mascot uniform. Check out the big reveal on GU's Facebook page or watch a video of the old mascot passing the torch. Watch the video >

Student Success Center Opens
One of the newest additions to campus, a 13,000-sq.-ft. Student Success Center, hosted a grand opening on Aug. 31. The Center represents a true “one-stop shop” of support services, resources and programming for Gannon students. Read more >

Tall Ships are Coming to Erie! 
Approximately 75 alumni and friends attended this fall's Alumni Lunchtime Lecture on Sept. 2, which featured Jeffrey Bloodworth, Ph.D., assistant professor of history. He discussed “Why Tall Ships Matter to Erie” as a preview for Erie's Tall Ships Festival, Sept. 9-12. Read more >

Local Attorney to Serve as Constitution Day Speaker

Help celebrate Constitution Day--which commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution--with Gannon. This year’s speaker will be Erie-based Marshall Piccinini, assistant U.S. attorney, who will speak on Sept. 17 at noon in Room 1200 of the Palumbo Academic Center (824 Peach St.). The event is open to the public.

Dinner to Honor Generous Donors

On Sept. 23, Gannon Trustees and President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., are hosting a jazzy night of art, poetry and music featuring Gannon students and faculty. This evening is a special recognition and thank you to loyal members of Gannon’s Universitas Society, the Archbishop Gannon Founder’s Society and Circles of Distinction members. Give to Gannon > 
Executive-on-Campus Returns for Fall
Ben C. Askew Jr., Ph. D. ’83, vice president of research and global head of NCE Technologies at the biotechnology company EMD Serono, will return to campus as the fall Executive-On-Campus speaker. Alumni, students, faculty and staff are welcomed to join Dr. Askew for informal breakfast or lunch discussions on Sept. 30 in the Old Main Boardroom. Online registration >

As fall approaches, two things come to mind…football and tailgating! Please join us for a tailgate on Oct. 2 as the Gannon Golden Knights football team hosts local rival Mercyhurst. Kick-off is set for noon at Gannon University Field. Online registration >

Delta Sigma Phi Chapter Receives Charter
The Grand Council of Delta Sigma Phi has voted to install the Gamma Rho Chapter at Gannon University once again, crediting the hard work of fraternity members over the last 18 months. The chapter was originally chartered in 1954 and recolonized in early 2009. Watch the video > 

Gannon in the News
Read all about it! Gannon University is a newsmaker, in Erie and beyond. Melissa Peterson, assistant professor of nursing, was featured in the Erie Times-News about her “climb for a cause” on Mount Kilimanjaro. An Erie Times-News columnist profiled one of Gannon's soccer standouts. Living Our Faith
As a Catholic, Diocesan university, Gannon values its strong Catholic foundation. On Aug. 22, the University welcomed more than 600 members of the Class of 2014 with a Welcome Mass and New Student Convocation. Over the next two days, students participated in a variety of Preview GU events to help them meet their new classmates and get acclimated to life on campus. Photo gallery >
Gannon Gives Back
Join alumni and friends in 6 selected cities across the country for the second annual Alumni GIVE (Gannon’s Invitation to Volunteer Everywhere) Day on Sept. 25. This day of service, in the spirit of Gannon’s core values, offers alumni and friends a chance to spend time together and network while completing important projects in their community. Read more >
