Gannon Raises Awareness of Hunger and Homelessness Gannon’s annual Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, held Nov. 15-19, had students, faculty and staff donating meals, braving the cold from within cardboard shelters and increasing understanding of global poverty issues. On Monday and Tuesday, students could opt to donate a meal from their meal plan to Oxfam America, an international organization focused on ending poverty, hunger and injustice. Students set up makeshift shelters along A.J.’s Way in Box City, collecting change from passersby for several local charities. The week ended with a Culture Fair. Approximately 200 students, faculty and staff participated in the events and the efforts raised a total of $1,400 to be shared by four local charities.
