Gannon Gets Greener with Newsletter, Events
The Gannon Goes Green initiative continues to take off around campus, with dining services joining in the act. During lunch on Dec. 10, the Beyer Hall Cafeteria experimented with trayless dining in an effort to curtail food waste, promote healthier eating habits and reduce the amount of water and energy consumed by washing trays.

As a precursor, Metz conducted a Weigh Your Waste event in the cafeteria on Dec. 1. For the three-hour lunch period, all food that was to be thrown out was weighed; some 413 individuals discarded 109 pounds of food, which could have fed approximately 114 people.

To learn about more of Gannon’s green projects, view the recently published Gannon Goes Green newsletter, produced by students in Ann Bomberger’s advanced composition class, or visit the Gannon Goes Green Web site.
