Job Search Tips and More from Career Services

Create an effective résumé. The résumé is used as a screening tool by most employers. If it doesn’t get their attention quickly, then your chances of getting an interview are very small. It should highlight your education, experience, skills and activities and should begin with the most important information related to your career objective. The résumé should be written in a clear, concise manner using action words to describe your background and accomplishments. It needs to be formatted in a visibly appealing manner. Set it up as a Word document (.doc or .docx) and do not use templates. Feel free to email your résumé to cdes@gannon.edu and a career counselor will be glad to critique it and offer suggestions. Special Announcement for 2006 Alumni
Gannon University has partnered with the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP) to conduct a Baccalaureate Outcomes Survey. The survey will benefit Gannon University by providing data on the occupational success of recent graduates and on your satisfaction with your Gannon experience. Alumni who received a degree from Gannon during the 2005-06 Academic Year will be surveyed. You will be contacted in September 2011 and invited to complete either a Web-based survey or a paper questionnaire. Please take a moment to complete the survey. For questions, contact Cathy Fresch, director of Alumni Services, at 814-871-5842.

Student Café Moving Into Antlers Building

The project to transform the former Antlers Pub into a new venue for use by Gannon students is well under way. The One Green World Café, a student-run organic coffee house currently residing on the first floor of Zurn Science Center, will relocate to the space, which will be upgraded in phases starting this summer. In conjunction with the College of Engineering and Business, Gannon students will be largely responsible for operating the facility. Stay tuned for more details about this exciting development!

Thank You for Your Support!
Gannon University and its students wish to thank the many alumni, friends and parents who during the past year generously supported the Gannon University Annual Fund for Academic Excellence. Gifts to the Annual Fund support student scholarships, help the University invest in technology for its labs and classrooms and allow students and faculty to conduct research. The Annual Fund is on pace to meet its goals for the 2010-11 Fiscal Year. For more information on making a gift, please visit the Online Alumni Community.
