Health Sciences, Physician Assistant Studies

Jill M. Gore graduated from Gannon with her Bachelor of Science in health sciences in 2003 before returning to earn her Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2004. Working in general pediatrics in her home state of New York, she was offered the opportunity to work at the Texas Transplant Physician Group in San Antonio. Accepting the position, she now primarily performs bone marrow transplants for adult patients.

Though working with terminally ill patients can sometimes be difficult, Jill notes that she tries “to focus on the many patients who are doing well and have lived far beyond their once-grim prognosis.” She adds, “It’s rewarding to help them cope with their illness and treat them so that they can live long enough to see the birth of a grandchild or to spend another Christmas with their family.”

Outside of the workplace, Jill has written manuscripts that have been published in scholarly journals and has spoken at national medical conferences. Additionally, she peer reviews for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and sits on the board of directors for the Bexar County PA Society, as well as the editorial board for the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology.

Jill praises Gannon’s Physician Assistant program, accrediting it with her own success, as well as the success of many others in her field. “The PA Program at Gannon is well-established and has a reputation of educating PAs who are ready to participate in the care of patients upon graduation,” she concludes.
