Kara S. Miller '01

Psychology

Kara Miller earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Gannon in 2001. During her stay, she was highly involved within the Greek community, an involvement that would go on to shape her career even today.

A member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, she served as president of the Activities Programming Board and on the Panhellenic Executive Board, all while remaining a student of Gannon’s Honors program. Her other co-curricular activities included the University Ambassadors, Student Government Association, and Omicron Delta Kappa.

Today, Kara works as the Assistant Dean of Students in the Office of Fraternities, Sororities, and Independent Living at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. “Since I spend my career now with students during their co-curricular or out of the classroom involvement, I have to say that Gannon was a great training ground for me,” she mentions. “In fact, I’m sure many of my college friends aren’t surprised that this is the work I do now.”

“I really believe in the adage ‘If you love your job, you’ll never feel like you work a day in your life,’” she adds. “Follow your passion and interests. Reach out to others who have the careers you are considering and learn if it will really be the right fit for you.”

When her students ask her where she went to college, she always mentions Gannon with a smile. “I would go there again – it truly was the right fit for me.”
