Education - Curriculum and Instruction, Principal Certification

When her sister, Jennifer Dobbs Woods, recommended that she complete her master’s degree, Stacy Camino decided it was time to go back to school. Attending Gannon to attain her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, she continued on, receiving her principal certification, as well. “I would like to complete my superintendent’s letter of eligibility and continue my education at Gannon by working toward my doctorate degree,” she explains.

As a graduate and post-graduate student, Stacy was already living her education and often, her professors were involved in the same organizations and activities as she was. “They lived what they taught,” she notes, “and I was able to work with them in a different capacity.” Two of her most impressionable professors were Dr. Kathleen Kingston (who taught Learning Theory) and Dr. Michele B. Campbell, superintendent of the Fort LeBoeuf School District.

Currently, Stacy is the assistant principal at J.S. Wilson Middle School, an adjunct professor in educational psychology at Mercyhurst College, president of the Northwest Pennsylvania Middle School Association, and a board member of both the Pennsylvania Middle School Association and the Young Leaders Club for the United Way. During her scarce free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and volunteering for the United Way.

“Take advantage of every opportunity,” Stacy mentions. “Make what you are learning relevant to your everyday life…That is one of the bonuses of a Gannon education – your classmates today might be your daughter’s teacher or your administrative colleague tomorrow.”
